Titan Indoor Track Bulletin - Dec 20, 2010
FIRST WEEK
Good job by those who have been showing up and working hard. I realize it’s hard to get motivated this time of the year- but it’s very important that you take advantage of every opportunity to learn and improve. And speaking of learning: I have “Bible’s”/notebooks for all events except distance. Pick one up, read, and learn. I will also have videos for about every event available within a week. There are instructional videos as well as videos of world class performers. Become a student of your event.
SENIORS- IMPORTANT
Some of you may be thinking of running in college. What you need to do is make sure everything is taken care of with the NCAA requirements. Check out the following web sites so you will know if you have to take additional classes 2nd semester to be eligible:

Check with Mrs. Faerber in the counselors office for more info.
WORKOUTS- Dec 20, 21, 22
I will open the Weight Room and Fitness Center Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:00 am. If you want to lift or cross train, show up ready to work out. You can also show up to workout on hurdles, high jump, throws, etc. We may be able to pole vault- depends on availability of the small gym. If you can’t make it over, try to follow the workouts as shown on the original handout. I will send out another email to let you know the schedule for the week of December 27th.
RUNNING OUTSIDE
If you dress correctly, you can run outside even while the weather is quite cold. Dress in layers (spandex, Under Armor, turtle neck, sweats, etc.). Wear a beanie- 25-30% of the heat loss is through your head. Wear gloves, etc. If you have asthma, the air quality and cold may hamper your running. Make sure you are running on a secure surface. Don’t run along the side of the road if it’s icy. Running on fresh snow is easy on the legs- try out the “trail” that runs along the bluff. Keep up the mileage, but be careful.
USU CLINICS (January 7/8)
The Friday clinics are for hurdles, high jump, and javelin. The Saturday clinics are for shot/discus, distance, sprints, and pole vault. While the camps are great for everyone, I really want hurdlers and throwers to attend. I will pay for a motel room for hurdlers that go up Friday and go to the sprint camp on Saturday. The cost is $50. If you return the entry form and $30 to me by January 4th, I will pay the remaining $20. Payment for one camp allows you to attend any of the others. There is no bus- you will have to arrange for your own rides. I’ve attached the clinic info in case you haven’t picked it up yet.
