GREAT WEEK FOR TITAN TRACK
There were many things that occurred to make this a great week for Titan Track. Our 10/ x 10/30 in 10 Tuesday was a great workout for all runners. With the help we had Wednesday, every athlete had a chance to get some individual attention. Besides the coaching staff, having Jen Schiess, Aaron Hill and Kuyler Thompson helping out made for a great workout day. Friday’s Intrasquad Meet was fun and provided some pleasant surprises. And the week was capped off with Russ Elggren and Mark Calvin providing some real expertise in the hurdles and pole vault.
INTRASQUAD/ALUMNI MEET
Congrats to the Franco/Naisbitt TEAM on their big victory. There were several impressive performances highlighted by four school records set and one tied. Rachelle Holden and Mayra Franco both leaped 16'06" to set the new long jump record. Mayra also ran 12.55 to break her own 100m dash record. Jaylen Hernandez cleared 7'06" to tie the school pole vault record. Zach Watson shattered the pole vault record as he cleared 13'06". Cory Serfoss “messed around” with the long jump and set a new record at 21'05".
There were many non-record performances. Jamison Nielson had three PR’s in winning the 110m and 300m hurdles as well as the high jump. Chris Brown won the 100m and 200m dashes. Hunter Naisbitt picked up two victories in the shot put and discus. Preston Williams (400 and 800) and Jaxon Hansen (1600 and 3200) also had two wins.
Mayra Franco picked up wins in the 200m dash and 300m hurdles to go along with her school record performances. Cambria Bitter was a multiple winner in the high jump and 100m hurdles. Lindsey McFarland won the 800m run and also placed in the 100, 300 hurdles and 1600m run. April Bassinger picked up a victory in the javelin in her first meet. Rylee Garver won the 400m dash and Daylyn Johnston the 3200m run. Both also competed in about half a dozen other events.
Complete results of the meet can be found at: www.titantrack2011.blogspot.com.
While the performances listed above were impressive, the highlight of the meet was probably watching new athletes compete, veteran athletes attempt new events, and seeing the alumni back on the track. A fun way to start the new season.
The winning Franco/Naisbitt TEAM and all Alumni are invited to the Pizza Party to be held after the tri-meet Wednesday. Others are also invited- you know who you are.
