DAVIS HIGH INVITATIONAL
This unique format is basically divided into two meets. The Invited, afternoon, session only accepts the top few entries. The Open, morning, session allows the next tier of entries. Just getting into the meet is an honor. It was the long day with the wind and occasional snow hampering some performances. During the morning 4x100, our boys actually had a hard time seeing the lines. But, a great deal of toughness was shown throughout the tough conditions.
In the Open session, Cory Serfoss and Chris Brown finished 1st and 6th in the 400m dash in 50.85 and 52.01. Spencer Hull placed 2nd in the shot put throwing 42'05. Steve Carter was 7th with a toss of 41'11. Jeff Knighton, Kolton Rackham, Jake Garver were 2nd in the 4x400m relay running 3:36.18. Abby Call and Sarah Sperry placed 3rd and 7th in the shot put throwing 32'04 and 31'07. Sarah also placed 3rd in the high jump tying her school record at 5'00. Mayra Franco leaped 16'00.5 to finish 2nd in the long jump. Jamison Nielson’s 15.87 placed him 3rd in the 110m hurdles and he and Shane Russell were 7th and 8th in the 300m hurdles in 42.66 and 42.68. Rylee Garver placed 4th in the 300m hurdles in 48.29. Sharlie Dimick’s 5:30.47 placed her in the 6th spot. Jaxon Worthen cleared 5'10 to place 8th in the high jump.
In the Invited session, Hunter Naisbitt won both the shot put (55'09) and discus (171'06). He was selected as the meet MVP, winning a beautiful trophy. Jaxon Hansen captured the 800m run in 1:58.75, winning another gold watch for the Titans. Mayra Franco won the 100m dash running 12.60 and finished 4th in the 200m dash in 26.41. Lindsey McFarland placed 2nd in the 400m dash in 59.49. Ali Morris’ 16.44 in the 100m hurdles placed 7th. Shane Russell finished 6th in the 110m hurdles in 15.75. Zach Watson broke his school record in the pole vault clearing 13'07 to place 4th. Cory Serfoss also captured a 4th place finish in the long jump at 20'04. April Basinger improved her school record in the javelin to 116'00 to place 3rd in the javelin. Jamison Nielson finished 7th in the high jump clearing 5'10. The 4x400m relay of Jaxon Hansen, Preston Williams, Jonah Lewis and Cory Serfoss placed 3rd in 3:28.23. Shelby Cadwell, Rylee Garver, Ali Morris and Mayra Franco ran 50.77 to finish 4th in the 4x100m relay. It was a very good meet for the Titans. If it had been scored, I think we would have been 2nd behind Davis in the Boys and possibly 3rd in the Girls. As coaches we received many compliments about what a great TEAM we have. No argument here.

Selected this week were Sarah Sperry, Abby Call, Jonah Lewis, and Jake Zaugg. Sarah and Abby just keep getting better in the shot, and Sarah keeps clearing high bars in the high jump. Jonah contributes in so many areas- from the open sprints to all relays. Jake had a big PR clearance of 13' in the vault.
