Titan Track Bulletin - April 9, 2011
ARCADIA INVITATIONAL
Three Titans made the trip to California over the weekend to compete against some of the top athletes in the nation. They did a great job representing the program. Cory Serfoss battled the wind and a sore hamstring to leap 20'09 in the Open Long Jump. Hunter Naisbitt threw a school record toss of 165'04 to win the discus Friday night. That earned him a spot in the Saturday morning competition. He improved his school record to 171'02 to place 3rd, just missing a shot at the elite competition in the evening. In the Invited (elite) shot put, Hunter threw 56'10.50 to destroy his school record and place 6th. An incredible meet for Hunter. Mayra Franco improved on her school record in the 100m dash as she ran 12.48. That put her 4th in the heat and 19th out of 44 against the top sprinters in the west. Great job by all three.
SPRING BREAK WORKOUTS
Thanks to those who made the effort to get to the workouts during spring break. The hurdlers and distance runners were especially dedicated. Thanks to Coach Wilcox for not only keeping the distance runners motivated, but also feeding them. While the weather didn’t always cooperate, it was a good week of workouts.
REGION RANKINGS
The rankings are posted at: http://www.regiononetrack.blogspot.com/. The top 24 in each event at the end of the regular season qualify to compete in the Region Championships.

ALUMNI UPDATE
Hannah Williams ran an incredible 4:34.08 1500m run to place 5th in Sacramento. That is equivalent to about 4:52 for the mile. It is the #10 mark ever for USU. McKayla Williams had a seasonal best of 2:19.66 in the 800m run at the same meet. Jake Rossmango had the privilege of running the Texas Relays- one of the biggest and oldest collegiate meets in the nation. His time wasn’t what he wanted, but just running in such a prestigious meet is an honor. Haley Busby ran a HUGE PR in the 5000m run turning in a time of 19:57 last week in Montana. She followed that up with a 2:35 in the 800 and 5:16 in the 1500 in a meet held in Spokane. Haley just continues to improve each week.
